Ok, so I get asked “does walking help you lose weight?” all the time. I figured it was due time I post about this one.
Let’s keep in mind the formula to weight loss here people: Walking is a means of exercise; exercise = burning calories; burning calories = losing fat and so . . . YES walking will definitely will help you to lose weight! OF course a healthy diet plays a big role as well
I love walking. It is low-impact but excellent for your cardiovascular health. If you consider the frequency of your walks, the duration and the intensity you will end up with an exercise regime that will surprisingly get your buns and tummy tightened, and legs toned.
So I’ll tell you about my walking routine . . . I usually get out to walk either on my own or with my husband and kids. We live in an area that (some might say luckily) has a lot of hills. This helps with the intensity of my walks because going down hill helps work my stomach muscles and going up hill really pumps up the cardio and burns my rear!! lol
I like to walk 4-5 times per week. If you think about walking, we do it EVERY day. When I was really overweight I’d always skip the stairs and opt for the elevator. I’d drive to get the mail, etc. etc.
Any excuse right?
Well I don’t know about you but NO more excuses for me!
I know that small things like “choosing to walk”…even if it is a 5 minute stroll can add up to a lot of calories being burnt and weight loss.
Remember that taking the stairs is indeed a form of exercise, and that any extra walking helps you lose weight. This kind of understanding and guidance was just the thing I needed to get going.
So how about you?
Go get your walking shoes on, get outside and go WALK! You don’t need anything other equipment. It’s safe, cheap and fun.
Like most people I need to stay motivated to work out and do this though. Plain and Simple. Good news is that my personal exercise and diet regime that I’ve created with Strip That Fat which has really helped me out. In fact, to this day, I have never come across a better and more real diet, motivation, exercise and eating healthy plan.
